Independent Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering Consultancy founded on decades of elite-tier technical leadership and practical construction delivery.
PBIS was established to bridge the gap between traditional building-services design and practical construction delivery.
Having spent many years leading MEP delivery on complex residential, commercial and industrial projects, we have repeatedly seen the cost and programme impact that can arise when buildability, procurement, coordination and commissioning considerations are introduced too late in the project delivery process.
A design can be technically compliant and still create significant challenges during construction. Plant access, service routes, ceiling and riser coordination, equipment selection, procurement lead times, installation sequencing, commissioning requirements and future maintenance all have the potential to affect cost and programme if they are not properly considered from the outset.
PBIS was created specifically to address this by bringing real construction and Design & Build experience into the design process from day one.
Resolve issues while they are still design decisions, rather than allowing them to become construction problems.
Every PBIS design is considered against the complete project lifecycle:
Design → Coordinate → Procure → Install → Commission → Operate
Our experience has been gained not only in producing designs, but in taking responsibility for MEP services through design development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. That experience allows PBIS to bring lessons normally learned during construction back into the design process before work begins on site.
Practical, installer-friendly designs developed with coordination, access, installation and maintenance in mind.
Engineering decisions considered alongside capital cost, procurement strategy, programme and whole-life value. Value engineering built in from the outset by selecting the best value for money system for the actual requirement of the development.
Early consideration of equipment availability, lead times, construction sequencing, commissioning and handover.
Senior technical involvement throughout the project, with responsibility and continuity from concept through to delivery.
